About Mims
Mims is a rising junior at the University of Alabama. She was a student at The Dance Centre from ages 3-18, and was a company member for nine years. Mims competed nationally at The Dance Awards in New York City and Orlando, where she was recognized as "Top 20 Mini Female Best Dancer" in 2012, "Top 10 Junior Female Best Dancer" in 2013 and 2014, and "Top 22 Senior Female Best Dancer" in 2018. Mims has studied at The Alabama Ballet, and attended the American Ballet Theatre's Summer Intensive in Orange County, CA. She also attended and trained at Stacey Tookey's "Camp Protege" in Alberta, Canada and Teddy Forance's "GenIV" in Northampton, MA. Mims participated in numerous productions with The Dance Initiative and the Tuscaloosa Community Dancers. With TCD, she was a company member and was involved in their outreach program with the Boys and Girls Club. In 2019, Mims was awarded "Dancer of the Year" at the Druid City Art Awards, and has been teaching and assisting at The Dance Centre for the past three years. Walker is a Tuscaloosa native and grew up as a student at The Dance Centre. She was a member of The Dance Centre Company and Tuscaloosa Community Dancers and loved to dance with her team and as a soloist. After graduating from Northridge High School, Jennifer was a member of the Alabama Dance Team for the 2019-2020 season. Now she is studying Kinesiology at the University of Alabama and will graduate May of 2023. She enjoys teaching a variety of ages and styles of dance and getting to know her students.
