About Mims
Mims began her dance journey at The Dance Centre at age 3 and trained there for the next 15 years. She spent nine years as a company member and performed with The Dance Initiative and the Tuscaloosa Community Dancers, where she was also actively involved in community outreach efforts with the Boys and Girls Club. In 2019, she was honored as Dancer of the Year at the Druid City Arts Awards. Throughout her training, Mims attended prestigious programs across the country, including the American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive in California, The Alabama Ballet School, Stacey Tookey’s Camp Protege in Canada, and Teddy Forance’s Advanced/Pro Class at GenIV in Massachusetts. She also competed nationally at The Dance Awards in New York City and Orlando, earning placements such as Top 10 Junior Female Best Dancer and Top 22 Senior Female Best Dancer. After graduating from The University of Alabama, Mims began working in recruiting while continuing to nurture her passion for dance. She has been teaching at The Dance Centre for several years and loves spending time in the classroom with the next generation of young dancers.
