About Melissa

Melissa Verzino is a native of Tuscaloosa. As Co-Owner/Director of The Dance Centre here in Tuscaloosa, she has had the privilege of teaching jazz, musical theatre and lyrical and sharing her passion for dance since the age of 16. She is very proud of the performing company at The Dance Centre in which she has helped to achieve numerous National titles in New York City at national competitions such as The Dance Awards and New York City Dance Alliance.  Also, as Co-Founder of The Dance Initiative, she is committed to providing, creating, and enhancing opportunities for dancers in West Alabama to achieve their dreams. She has been choreographer for The Dance Initiative’s productions, such as 'Where Are You Christmas?' and 'Frozen' as well as choreographer for Tuscaloosa Community Dancers and the University of Alabama Dance Team. Melissa is passionate about the arts, the Tuscaloosa community, and her family. She is grateful she and her husband Mike have been able to raise their two sons Drew and Jack in this wonderful community.
